Experienced obstetricians in Katy

Our obstetricians are experienced in women’s health issues related to pregnancy. Whether you are trying to conceive or are already pregnant with one baby or multiple babies, our team is available. Our office diagnoses and treats routine and high-risk pregnancies. Our practice is affiliated with Memorial Hermann and The Methodist Hospital systems. Our team includes three physicians who strive to establish positive relationships with our patients.
Prenatal care and preventative treatments are tailored to patients’ unique needs. Our providers are available to answer questions or concerns before, during, and after labor and delivery. We offer the following services for expectant mothers:

  • Preconception evaluations – These appointments are used to determine patient health prior to pregnancy and to improve a patient’s chances of becoming pregnant.
  • Risk assessments – Risk assessments are performed to check for risk factors that make patients susceptible to depression or an unhealthy pregnancy. Resources can be made available for patients who need them.
  • Genetic screening – For patients who have a personal or family history of genetic disorders or birth defects, screening may be recommended to determine if you or your partner carry the gene.
  • Prenatal examinations – Routine exams throughout your pregnancy track the health of the mother and baby.
  • Pain management – It is important to discuss and learn your options for pain management so you can create a labor plan ahead of time.
  • Labor and delivery
  • Postnatal examinations – Your body goes through changes with pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Postnatal exams give your physician a chance to make sure you are doing well physically and mentally following your pregnancy.

Expectations from an experienced obstetrician

At Jenkins Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Medicine, provide excellent care before, during, and after your pregnancy.

Pregnancy is an exciting time in your life. At Jenkins Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Medicine, we provide excellent care before, during, and after your pregnancy. Knowing what to expect from our staff and your appointments keeps you in the loop, lessens your stress, and helps you make informed choices about your care.

Once you have received a positive pregnancy test, contact your obstetrician’s office for an appointment. Generally, your first appointment is scheduled when you are 7-10 weeks pregnant. The first appointment is usually the longest. During this appointment, your physician will collect your health history, perform a physical exam, prescribe prenatal vitamins if you are not already taking them. Questions and concerns will be addressed. Your doctor will discuss ways the maintain a healthy lifestyle and how to improve your chances of a healthy pregnancy.

Follow up appointments during the first trimester are scheduled every 4 weeks. During the first trimester, blood tests and a urinalysis will be requested. Your doctor will use a fetal Doppler so you can hear your baby’s heartbeat. An ultrasound may also be performed.

During the second trimester, appointments will continue every 4 weeks. These appointments track your baby’s growth. You will be weighed and your abdomen will be measured. For patients who wish to or need to do additional screenings for birth defects or abnormalities, those tests may be offered during the second trimester. Around 20 weeks pregnant, an ultrasound will be performed again.

In the third trimester, you will be tested for gestational diabetes and group B strep. Your doctor will give you more information on these tests as they approach and what to expect. Appointments will be scheduled every 2 weeks until you are 36 weeks pregnant. At that point, you will see your obstetrician every week until you deliver. As your due date nears, your obstetrician will check your cervix, review signs of labor, make sure you have a labor plan, and discuss when to go to the hospital.

Approximately 5-6 weeks after delivery, you should have a postpartum appointment. Postnatal care is important. This appointment allows your doctor to check for proper healing. Your obstetrician can answer questions about breastfeeding, mental health, and birth control. Remember, you can get pregnant again before your first period returns.

If you need obstetric services, contact the team at Jenkins Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Medicine. Our professional team is skilled and experienced with normal and high-risk pregnancies. Call 855 346 8610.

"He is a good listener. I have struggled with OB/GYN issues for years that have virtually disappeared after seeing him for a year. He gave good advice, prescribed appropriate medicine, and ordered essential & telling lab tests."
